How can I enable a root folder sync after I’ve installed Zoho Docs Sync?

When you install Zoho Docs Sync, you'll have the option to select the files you'd like to sync. This is called selective syncing, and only those files/folders that you select will be synced. The root folder is the main folder in your Zoho Docs account that contains all your personal files. If you haven't enabled sync for your root folder files and you try to upload a file to it from your desktop, the following error message will appear:

You can’t upload this file, because you haven’t enabled sync for your root-folder files. To upload this file, you can either change your selective sync settings or move the file to a sync-enabled folder.

To upload the file, do one of the following:

  • Move the file to another folder for which sync has been enabled.
  • Click the sync icon on your menu tray and enable sync for the top-level (root) folder files (Preferences > Folder > Choose folders).

When you enable sync for the root folder, any files on the web inside the root folder will be downloaded, and new files added in the desktop folder will be uploaded.
