Zoho Docs for Desktop lets you sync your files in Zoho Docs to your computer and vice versa. This helps you to work on your files offline, which gets updated to your Zoho Docs as soon as you go online. You can even sync your files to multiple computers using the same Zoho Docs account, which enables you to work from any of your computer, be it your office or a home computer.

Zoho Docs for Desktop supports/runs in the following Operating Systems:

Yes, Zoho Docs can be installed on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. For Linux the installable is different for 32-bit and 64-bit.

The syncing is instantaneous, meaning, the sync happens whenever you modify or add a new file or a folder.

Yes, the upload and download quota per day is limited to 1 GB respectively.

Storage space is same as Zoho Docs space to which you have licensed for.

All files are stored and backed-up securely. Your account login is protected by many layers of security. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and AES-256 bit encryption are used for securing the data.

Yes, the files in workspaces of Zoho Docs can also be synced.

When you unlink a computer, the syncing between that computer and the Zoho Docs account is stopped. The files that have already been synced to the computer will not be deleted.

The Zoho Docs updates are automatic. Whenever there is a change in the binary, it upgrades to the latest version automatically

Files and folders added to Workspace will be synchronized to Zoho Docs with respect to user's permission (Owner, Admin, Moderator) in the Workspace. Workspace cannot be created, renamed and deleted from Zoho Docs Sync. Also, Workspace permissions & sharing Workspace to new users, removing users from Workspace cannot be done.

These files refer to the Zoho format of documents, sheets and show:

1. Zoho Writer documents are shown as .zdoc
2. Zoho Sheet files are shown as .zsheet
3. Zoho Show presentations are shown as .zslides.

All the above Zoho proprietary formats will only be shown as a link file and when you open it for editing, it loads in the Zoho Docs.

No. These files could only be edited from Zoho Docs.

• Currently, the automatic conversion does not take place. However, the uploaded files can still be edited using Zoho Docs online editors. The edited documents will be synchronized to Zoho Docs folder on your desktop.
• The files you have uploaded into Zoho Docs folder on desktop can be imported to any of the required Zoho Docs online editor formats by right-clicking and choosing 'Import to' option.

Zoho Docs for Desktop uses automatic conflict resolving algorithm to solve any such content mismatch issues.

MS office files are synced in the same format on which they are saved. If you have MS Office installed on that computer, you can edit these files.

Yes, you can install Zoho Docs on multiple computers and sync them using the same Zoho account.

Yes, you can choose the folders and work spaces of your Zoho Docs account that have to be synced.

No, Zoho Docs currently do not support signing in using your google, yahoo or facebook account. You can only sign-in with your zoho credentials.

Zoho Docs supports both Individual file sharing and Workspace sharing. Files that are shared individually to other users will be listed under "Shared to Me" in Zoho docs. These files will not be synced by Zoho Docs.

On the other hand, files that are shared to a workspace, which is either owned by you or in which you are a member, will be synced.

No, this is not currently supported. Even Zoho Docs folder should not be a folder from any mountable devices like thumb drive, external hard disk drive etc.

This could happen in the following cases:

1. The computer is not connected to internet
2. Proxy credentials, if any, is no longer valid
3. Zoho Docs for Desktop is not mapped to the correct Zoho Docs account. It may be noted that Zoho Docs will not be able to sync docs from multiple Zoho Docs account.
4. Check for special characters in file names. Special characters that are restricted in file/folder names of Windows, Mac OSX and Ubuntu OS will not be synced.
5. Files and Folders that are disregarded, like
   
   • File names starting with '.~', '~$'. (Openoffice/Libreoffice temp files)
   • File names starting with '~' and ending with '.tmp' extension. (MS Office temp files)
   • .~$zstmp
   • .ds_store
   • thumbs.db
   • icon\r
   • desktop.ini

File upload size limit varies according to the pricing plan.
